For patients with mild anxiety or nerves, we do our best to make you feel comfortable with amenities in our friendly office. For those with more severe anxiety, we are proud to provide sedation services to ease your nerves.
Oxide Sedation uses a clear, odourless gas called nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas" to calm and relax you. The gas is typically mixed with oxygen in a 70-30, 50-50, or 30-70 split. You simply breathe it in and start to feel the effects within about five minutes.
If you are pregnant, allergic to sedatives, are under the influence of alcohol, have CNS depression, or have specific cases of glaucoma, you are not eligible for sedation services.
Patients with impaired lung, kidney or liver function, advanced age or sleep apnea may also not be eligible but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
